Prostate Nutrition - Basic Ideas For A Healthy Diet

In looking at a healthy diet for the best possible prostate nutrition it should be pointed
out that healthy eating is going to do you a power of good anyway for your heart,
cholesterol and immune system. A healthy heart diet can be part of all this - heart
disease is still the number one killer in America.
Basically not just broccoli but a whole range of fruit and vegatables plus whole grain
bread and pasta. Cut down on dairy products and red meat. Add in nuts and olive oil as a
chosen dressing and you are well on the way to healthy eating and your prostate will feel
the benefits too.
I read recently that you should have 5-10 servings of fruit and veg a day ! That used to
be FIVE. Actually a serving is calculated as ONE CUP. So if you are making a smoothie
with bananas and want to add in some red fruits, that is already two. let us say that
your salad is made up of peppers, onions and lettuce - that can easily add to three cups.
i.e. three servings.
Lots of talk about about phytonutrients. these are basically all the good elements in
fruit and vegetables and the more brightly coloured they are, the more phytonutrients they
will contain. So, peppers, spinach and tomatoes are at the top of the list. Lettuce which
is rather pale in colour will not give you so many of these.
